The Staple Fall 2012 Collection is landing in shops around the world as we speak. For Fall ’12, our theme is called “American History ______”. We’ve always used educational themes in our clothing line, and this season is no different. The reason why we chose “American History _______” is that the history of this nation can be traced back to a constant struggle between the haves and the have-nots, which is very much a prevalent topic in this year’s economic and political forecast.
Two particular eras that we looked at for inspiration in terms of eras of American History were the “Insurgent Era,” which embodies all of our fascination with warfare: everything from civil wars, to world wars, to current day guerrilla warfare. And the “Native Era,” which is a tribute to the original caretakers of this land, the Native Americans, and the struggles that they’ve been through as well. Those are the two main thematic groups for Fall 2012. We also introduced a new range within our line called the “Staple Icon” series, which is a sub-collection that reflects on our origins and where we came from: New York City. Check out the look book below and hope you like it. The awesome shots are by Anna Sian and it took place at The New Design High School in the Lower East Side of NYC.
