A Japanese new year starts off with an exchange of nenga-jos, the equivalent of holiday greeting cards except that they are usually postcards printed or written on new years nenga cards with lotto numbers. You won’t be winning money, but goodies like TV games, vacations, TVs, etc. The luckiest I’ve gotten, and probably for most other people, are postage stamps though.
Anyway, ’tis the year of the dragon so let out the beast in you and soar as high as you can go!
