When I was 4 years old, my family went on its first overseas trip. Our first port of call – San Francisco. I remember very little from that holiday, apart from the purchase of a small Joe Montana figurine. I lost it a long time ago but that figurine ended up shaping my loyalty to the 49ers franchise. The fact that it was a golden era for the 49ers also helped.
The last decade has been disappointing to say the least, with 5 coaches hired and fired and zero playoff appearances. Thankfully that changed on Sunday, as the niners clinched the NFC West title that assured them of playoff action. Longtime running back Frank Gore also became the all time leading rusher for the 49ers.
Hopefully I’ll be having some late nights come January. Bring on Lambeau Field!
