Fresh off Jeffrey Deitch‘s street art opus Art In Streets at the MOCA, Eric Haze debuted a new collection of paintings and drawings at Known Gallery. New Mathematics featured bold black and white chalk drawings and paintings set within the stark walls of the West Hollywood gallery. The gallery’s back room also played host to Greg Lamarche’s I Can See For Miles, a colorful collection of his collage work that might be familiar to visitors of the Reed Space. The night was a reunion for many NYC transplants who call LA home, intermixing with young Angelinos of the Fairfax set, peppered with well versed art collectors. All while next door, Li’l Wayne was skating the bowl at the Supreme store. This all played in concert with the energy of the evening, lining up perfectly against the electricity of Haze’s new work. Dutch-artist Parra dropped in to say hello to the NY graffiti legend, lending itself to the opinion that LA is now a player in the global art game.
