FIRE IN BABYLON.

A brilliant movie-documentary charting the rise of cricket in the Caribbean, and how the West Indies dominated the sport for much of the 70′s and 80′s. They might be the only international sporting team who are actually made up of 15 different countries/nations playing under the one Caribbean banner.

AERON WITH ART.

Oh Japan, how I love thee collaborations… Aeron with ART popped up on the radar a few weeks back with Sit on Green by Makoto Azuma’s (“Astro turf Aeron”). Now more have popped up and oh are they pretty. It’s always nice to see how everyday items can be interpreted into art. I personally prefer the Chadwick but hey Aeron was first right?

Aeron with ART is an art charity project with Herman Miller Japan and more trees. The project is for the best artists and architects of modern times to customize Aeron Chair, the best seller product of Herman Miller, into one-of-a-kind pieces of art in their unique concepts. The sales profit will be donated to aid project LIFE311 for Tohoku Area Pacific Offshore Earthquake to build temporary housings with Japanese wood materials.”

SHIN. NEIGHBORHOOD.

NEIGHBORHOOD is an O.G. status streetwear brand. 17 years in the making and one of the brands I looked to as a young buck starting Staple. Shin-san is a quiet man and doesn’t enjoy the limelight. So it’s a rarity to see him speaking on film. Enjoy this gem.

WTT.

A mini doc has surfaced featuring some behind the scenes photos/footage/soundbites involving the making of Jay-Z and Kanye’s “Watch The Throne”. I like how this doc is made up of found footage, lomo-style shots, and maybe even some digital harinezumi thrown in as well. Editing is spot on, short. And sweet. “You never thought that hip-hop would take it this far.”
[UPDATE: That blows if you didn't get to see it. It got taken down. I don't get it! It's been up for a while...it had like over 200,000 views...then I post and it comes down. Haters!]

THE BIG HISTORY PROJECT.

The Big History Project initiated by Bill Gates was launched a few months back, but it’s worth mentioning on this blog at this present time.  The project arose from Bill Gates’ personal experience while watching Professor David Christian’s lectures on big history and attempts at fostering a greater love and capacity for learning among high school students.

The timelines on the site aren’t all there yet and it still seems to be a work in progress, but I’m very curious about the interactive applications they will be creating in the future.
