BUCKET LISTS. Those little items in your mind that fall under the category of “One day before I go, I need to do _____.” For me, one of those things was entering the World Series of Poker in Vegas. This year, I finally got to check it off. I didn’t finish in the money, but I did make it past the halfway point and it was an experience I will never forget!

There’s nothing quite like the incoming landing in Vegas. Not sure where else you can capture desert, snow capped mountains, rivers, The Grand Canyon and then of course, the iconic Las Vegas Strip.

Destination!

Thought I died and gone to heaven (or hell?). A sea of poker tables as far as the eye could see.

Seeing poker legends everywhere! Here’s a heavyweight battle: Mike Matusow vs Phil Helmuth.

The great Daniel Negreanu—he has a radar like none other.

Arguably, the greatest living poker player of all-time: Doyle Brunson.

And me….straight grinding. I learned something about myself in this trip. 10 hours of poker is no joke. And that was only 1 day. I’m not cut out for multi-day tournament play. I like poker—hell, I LOVE poker. But I like it on my own terms. I like to play when I want to play and leave when I don’t. Multi-day tournament play is a test of mental and physical stamina. Even taking a piss requires strategy and planning! After playing a full day, the idea that playing another 2-3 full days of poker was not a reward to me. Suffice it to say, I will stick to the cash tables.

This guy I saw at the airport was the definition of “what happens in Vegas stays in Vegas!”
