AN APPLE A DAY.

Hello and welcome to the corner of the Staple Blog that will cover health and healthcare.  As a pediatric lung doctor, I deliver the latter in hopes of producing the former.  I work in an inner city hospital and in this space I’ll share some of my own stories of what happens randomly that can make you smile or want to pull your hair out.

This is an interesting time in America when it comes to the practice of medicine and some pretty sizable changes are underway.  I suppose it is poor form to link another blog during your first blog post, but this article (actually the commencement address at Harvard Medical School last month) is one of the best things I have read on where we are in medicine and the generational shift underway.

The 2 other circles that make the venn diagram of my interests are Chicago sports teams and indie rock music; so also expect to see random youtube links of a Taj Gibson put back dunk (I’m pretending the next 4 games didn’t happen) or a good song that gets stuck in my head.

    Hi Dr. N!

I admit I was very surprised to see your post on the Staple website and am very encouraged to see Staple provide such a space for discussion regarding healthcare. I loved the New Yorker article; Atul Gawande is a fantastic writer. Thank you so much for posting. I definitely welcome this “corner” of the Staple Blog and look forward to reading more… :)
