A recent move to Hong Kong has me eating out almost every night of the week. This career foodie has been finding new eats that I’ve never been exposed to from living in the states. Hawker food, handmade dumplings and noodles, parts of an animal that I never thought were edible, are now a part of my daily diet. It is simply amazing.
My most recent discovery is the Singaporean crab. I ventured to Causeway Bay to find an outpost of No Signboard Seafood right at the start of “Food Street”. Yes, a street dedicated to food. I was in heaven! Especially after eating their signature, the white pepper crab.
The server presents the live crab for your approval…and moments later, fresh crab in a thick white pepper sauce mixed with the crabmeat from the insides of the shell. Of course the challenge of cracking the claws to find sweet meat, is still a part of the wonderful experience.
As a starter, every table receives the century egg, to get your appetite going (I’m not a fan, but they are beautiful).
No Signboard Seafood has multiple outlets around Asia, so you aren’t limited to eating this dish just in Hong Kong. But if you come to visit me and I’d happily to you here.
