    Saw it during the Venice Film Festival. I’m no politician, and both sides of this age-old conflict should be heard. I try not to judge or come with a “right” answer, but I can say this about “Miral”:

    As a Schnabel-fan, I expected another work that would use his skillset as a visual artist, and bring us into a world we often hear too little from. On this point, as it looked and felt like many a political thriller, without that inventive flair we have come to know from Mr. Schnabel. I was disappointed, for journey it was not, but more of a thinly veiled propaganda piece, and if there’s one thing I don’t enjoy it’s a one-sided argument– even if it’s one of the very few for Palestinian cause.

    I’m not going to discuss politics or anything relating to the material it covers. My critique is regarding the terribly preachy manner that completely unengages me as a viewer from the storytelling.

    A shame, as I had harbored high hopes for this one.
