ANTENNA EDITOR.

The good peoples at Antenna Magazine recently asked me to write a little piece. The topic? COLLABORATION. Actually, it ended up being the editor’s letter to the entire mag for this special issue about the idea of collabs! It was fun for me because I got to tap into my old journalism roots back in college. It’s a little piece on the past, present and future of collabs. Something people often ask me about. If you can’t find a copy out there, I’ve included the letter here. Enjoy.

ADIDAS x NEIL ARMSTRONG x STPL.

Seems like only yesterday when Neil Armstrong asked me to design their crew’s logo (The 5th Platoon). Man, has time changed. We’ve come a long way. Neil recently celebrated his 10th Anniversary of the “Original” Mixtape series. You might ask, “Why does a mix tape need an anniversary?” Well this ain’t no ordinary mix tape, and Neil is no ordinary DJ.

To celebrate, we got together with adidas to create this very limited edition friends and family only track jacket. Only about 50 were made and given personally from Neil to his homies at the party last week. These photos might be the closest you’ll get to seeing one in the flesh! Congrats Neil!

MI4.

Just saw Mission Impossible 4. Great action flick! It was non-stop…
Lots of good product placement in there too. BMW all day. Apple of course showing everything the iPhone and iPad can do. Even little guy Aether Apparel gets good love in the flick. Tom Cruise is the new Dick Clark. He found the fountain of youth somehow. The other big star of the film is OAKLEY. They get a huge critical role in the movie. Unfortunately it’s a style you will probably never see—The “All Clear” Wind Jackets. The Wind Jacket is a production model made for athletes like motorcyclists or high altitude climbers. It comes in black and a Ducati model on the Oakley site…but my inside sources say the “All Clear’s” were such a pain in the ass to make, a production model is unlikely. They are sick nonetheless. Tom…hook me up!

1-2-1 w/GREG SELKOE.

Greg Selkoe is a polarizing figure in the industry. Some love him. Some hate him. Why? Probably for 2 main reasons.
1) He’s successful as f*ck and people on top tend to get put under a microscope.
2) His company is at the epicenter of street culture. And “street cultists” are a fickle bunch that always have opinions.
With that reason, I thought it was overdue to sit down with the man behind the megaship known as Karmaloop/Plndr/KarmaloopTV/Boylston Trading Co., et al…to find out what it is that makes the entire engine tick.
Enjoy this 1-2-1.

HARLEM CHILDREN ZONE.

This past summer, me and my team from Staple spent a few sessions with the students from Harlem Children’s Zone. The idea was for Reed Space to host its first ever t-shirt design contest featuring students from the HCZ! I spent a few hours each day talking to them about every aspect of the business…from concept to design to printing to sales and even pitching.
After we worked on the design process with them, the students then had to present their final designs not only to me, but to my esteemed buddies; DJ CLARK KENT, TALIB KWELI and MISS INFO. We were able to give our two cents and they were able to make final tweaks. Now the judging goes to YOU.
For two weeks, you, the public viewers, can vote on your favorite student design RIGHT HERE. The design with the most votes will then be produced and available for purchase in-store and online at Reed Space. The winning student will receive profits from the sale of the tee as the grand prize. From Harlemworld to Yourworld. Dope.

REDLINE.

Redline is one of those anime movies that must be good since they’ve gotten it in to some theaters. It looks pretty high paced and exciting and the HD trailers on Apple Trailers now. Unlike the movie that came out in 2007 with the same name this one looks pretty promising, hey it’s got dog bikers, nuff said.

Here’s the trailer thats on YouTube, but if you’ve got a moment go check out the one on the Apple site.
