With the recent rebirth of the legendary New York Cosmos, Umbro has signed on as the soccer club’s official kit supplier and will be applying its celebrated football-tailoring ethos to a new on-field performance kit for Spring/Summer 2011. For a limited time only, The New York Cosmos are releasing their white home shirts early for eager fans and holiday shoppers.
The New York Cosmos were a manifestation of all things New York – aspiration, hard work, glamour and success and the team was never shy about making a statement on the pitch, in stellar performance and legendary style. Inspired by the kit worn in 1977 – a season that brought The New York Cosmos its 2nd NASL Championship along with Pele’s last ever professional game – the influence and significance of this year can be seen in the new kit.

Really nice. If they join the MLS pretty sure they’ll have to have an adidas uniform. Will start a great rivalry. They won’t be able to steal me from the Metrostars/ Red Bulls.
Coolness. The inclusion of New York as part of the new logo is a nice touch. I attended a Cosmos game at Giants Stadium in ’83 or ’84…must have been one of their last seasons. Glad they are back.

Those hats look absolutely AWESOME, but I can’t buy one online because New Era has ZERO quality control, and every one of their hats fits differently. I’ve got 5950 hats in 3 different sizes…frustrating. It’s a shame there isn’t a flexfit, which is the safest bet when ordering online.
