It’s really funny when I see the last post of Jeff.
I ‘ve just posted on my caliblog our pics of our last trip in NYC. It made me so nostalgic that I wanted to talk about my newyork crush with you.
It started when I was something like 10 years old. My brother, who was 16, listened to rap music and me? Dance music (NO LAUGH ALLOWED PLEASE).
Anyway, just to tell you when somebody is talking about New York, I think about this:
It remembers me so many things. This is the Hiphop for me. I wanted to get the same outfits but it was not easy… First I’m girl. Second, It was too expensive, third I’m living in France, and fourth I looked like ridiculous with the clothes of my brother.
But I did it anyway.
So I grew up with ATCQ, Public Enemy, Third Bass, the Lords of Brooklyn, CNN, Nas was one of my favorite. I hated Jay-z haha.
If I should choose a track like an anthem for this city, I’ll take this one:
Don’t ask me why, I don’t know. I have some butterflies in my belly when I’m listening to this. Everything in this song is good. Even the video is perfect.
There’s so many rappers and groups who influenced me and my musical tastes… Haaa time flies…
Aw you want to check the pics?! It’s here!
Ps: excuse my english.

Great post and classic videos! As a New Yorker (born, raised, still living) these groups/songs were monumental and represented the balance of what Hip Hop was in the 90s. Great summer photos as well. I recommend coming for the Winter holidays as well
Thank you Carlos! I’ll try next year for the winter holidays, promise!
Your English is probably better than some English people!
