GRAPHICALLY AMERICA

This is not exactly a new video, but I came across this again today while trying to de-frag my brain from staring at the same thing for too long (a.k.a. procrastination break). Aaron Draplin of Draplin Design Co.‘s expressive commentary on the current trends of American graphics culture. Fitting I thought as I’ve been seeing a trend of the “Vintage Americana” or a revival [of a sense] of “craft” across various sectors (but not limited to) of design practices. I can relate to his sentiments quite a lot because I still do more than 50% of my work by hand, and I really appreciate seeing old objects where you can actually see evidence that a real person made it, and it’s a wonderful thing. Old doesn’t mean it’s not worth keeping and new doesn’t make it better.

America Is F*cked…….(Graphically at least) from Jess Gibson on Vimeo.
