It’s the end of the day for me here in Berlin, but a few more hours to go for you North Americans. Maybe this will help you get through your day!
Remember the Plasmatics? Or Wendy O. Williams? No? Well, me neither because I was just a baby when she was nominated for a Grammy in the Best Female Rock Vocal Performance category. She later came to be known as “Queen of Punk”, “Queen of Shock Rock”, “Dominatrix of the Decibels”, and “High Priestess of Metal”, and her instruments listed includes: vocals, sax, chainsaw, sledgehammer. Amazing. Thanks to Mr. Errolson of Acronym, my vernacular in Rock-and-or-Roll history just got a little wider. There were a lot of things I feel like I missed out on during my youthful years(because I grew up in the woods of the Great Canadian Pacific North-West), punk or rock music being one of those things. But in someways I’m also kind of glad I did because I would probably not be the person I am today???
This is The Plasmatics performing “Butcher Baby”. Please do note her guitar “solo” 1:45 into the video.
RIP W.O.W! Thanks for being incredible. Happy Friday everybody!

Umm hello? Did he really just say that? What a strange, strange NBA off-season we’re witnessing.
First there was The Decision, which created the Super-Friends and prompted the owner’s letter, that ignited the burning jerseys and hateful toilet paper. And now in the latest issue of GQ Magazine, well… you can take your pick of bizarre quotes in that one.
Meanwhile Superman wears kryptonite, Ron Artest is a champion, and that Harvard kid can play!
Oh yea, and the Lakers quietly improved this offseason and are poised for another 3-peat. I can’t wait ’til November.
Goosebumps—be havin’ em.
(I love how the Wu is having arguments over a table with pink carnations…haha)
鳥肌ものです。
(Wuがピンクカーネーションが置かれたテーブルで、口論しているのが笑える...笑)
Takashi Murakami is a favorite of mine and has had great success in the past few years, so much so that he’s reached bootlegging status. And I present to you… SUCCESS, $20 for a 24″x 24″ panel and wait for it…. Buy 2 Get 1 Free!

His twitter gives us a glimpse into his studios in Japan and New York seen in his twitpics. For some more insight into Murakami check out a recent interview in Interview magazine.

Hello all. Long time reader, first time poster.
Rather than doing a self-introduction, I thought I’d just pull from the abyss of the Internets for my first post on the Staple site. I spend most of my day working in front of a computer or staring at a screen, and most of that time I spend making things that are aesthetically pleasing–at least to myself and my clients. I guess this is where taste comes in. I’m often blown away by what is out there and what people consider to be beautiful or appealing. Some things are just so wacky that I can’t tell if it’s meant to be ironic or not anymore, or I have to at least take a moment and think, “Seriously?”
With that said. I’m pleased to introduce to you: Celestial Portraits by Erial (thanks Alan for the link!), the unique magical service of a celestial soul portrait created of you! With every filter possible in Photoshop! Here are some examples!
Meet Dove, before.

Dove, after. Who’s that lady? I have no idea.

This is Iasos, before.

And after. Oh, Iasos makes music. Apparently he’s one of the original founders of “New Age” music.

And this is Alison. I really want to know where the tiger came from. And what is she holding???

For only $150 plus shipping, you can get a 8.5″ x 11″ print, “with archival inks on professional art paper.”
Or $250 plus shipping for a 13″x19″ print. What a bargain! P.S. My birthday is coming up.
Cécile Aubry. A face like no other. Rest in Peace. 8/3/28–7/19/2010.

As my first blog on the Staple site, it’s appropriate that I mention street art. Since it was Faile‘s posters in the windows of the Staple office that attracted me to get an internship at Staple.
Buffmonster who started his empire as a street artist in Los Angeles has branched out into other mediums in recent years.
This is his new figure The Destroyer (pre-order 8/16 @theloyalsubjects.com) that has recently been announced. The figure is an incredible 14″ tall and has some crazy antlers. But the Buff guy flying out of its head is truly what has made me reserve a spot in my collection.
Also announced were another set of plush toys (available in various outlets) ready to be placed on your coffee table or placed on your car dash. It’s always a treat to see the transfer of artists art from 2D into 3D especially when it’s done well.
I can’t wait to go to Tokyo!!! 東京に行くのが待ち遠しい!!!
