If you catch me on Twitter, you’ll know that I’ve recently become addicted to classical music. Not really listening to it in my headphones, but more so watching it live. So after my drive from Vegas to LA, I decided to catch a show of the LA Philharmonic at The Hollywood Bowl. I’ve never been to the Bowl, but it’s an amazing venue to catch a performance. Make sure you allow time to also check out the grounds and the history of the venue. It’s really interesting.
On your way there, you might as well check out the cheeziness that all of Hollywood has to offer. Man, I was really disappointed with the Walk of Fame and the Mann Chinese Theater. Everything just looked really dilapidated and ghetto. This area needs a refurb badly. The one single highlight:
Twitterでフォローしてくれている人はご存知の通り、最近クラシカルミュージックにハマっています。ヘッドフォンで聴くというより、生で見る方です。なので、ラスベガスからロスへドライブした後、Hollywood Bowlでのロサンゼルス交響楽団のコンサートに行くことにしました。Bowlへは行ったことがなかったのですが、演奏を聴く場所には最高です。歩き回り、会場の歴史に触れる時間もとるように。とても興味深いです。
会場に行くまでに、どうせならハリーウッドのベタな観光スポットに立ち寄る事も出来ます。チャイニーズシアターとウォークオブフェームにはガッカリでした。とても荒れ果てていて、ゲトーな感じでした。マジで一新する必要があります。唯一のハイライト：

…onto the Bowl. Really, really nice. This place was made for LA and LA was made for this place. Very different than Lincoln Center in NYC to catch a symphony, but great nonetheless. ．．．そして、Bowlへ。本当に、本当に良かったです。この会場はLAのために作られ、LAはこの会場のためにあるようなもの。ニューヨークのリンカーンセンターでシンフォニーを聴くのとは違いますが、素晴らしかったです。

One thing I love about classical music is the role of the conductor. His control over the orchestra is so impressive to me. The level of skill required goes beyond anything I’ve witnessed. クラシカルミュージックの大好きな点は指揮者です。オーケストラをコントロールする力にはとても感動します。僕には計り知れないレベルのスキルを要します。
