In Tokyo once again. This time for our final stop in the Staple Spring ’11 previews. I always love the subtle things that make Tokyo one of the most amazing places on earth. またまた東京にやって参りました。今回のStaple Spring 2011プレビューツアーの最終地です。東京がこの地球でもっとも素晴らしい街の一つと思えさせる、ささいな事を見つけるのが大好きです。
Trust and security in Japan is very VERY different than New York City. Here’s something you might commonly see in a restaurant. Bag open. DSLR Camera sitting there. Wallet open. Car keys laying there. So funny. 日本での信頼とセキュリティーはニューヨークとはまったく違います。こちらはレストランでよく見る光景。開いたバッグ、置っぱなしの一眼レフカメラ、開いた財布、出しっぱなしの車の鍵。ウケます。

I spent some time outside of Tokyo as well in a small town call Kusatsu (famous for their onsen’s). We stopped in a tiny little roadside restaurant, literally in the middle of nowhere. Normally, in America, this would yield a bathroom that looked right out of Trainspotting. But here in Japan, not only was the bathroom pristine—but perfectly balanced and considered in its design. Just perfect. 少しの間、東京を離れ、草津（温泉で有名）という小さな街に行きました。そこで、何もない町外れの小さなレストランに立ち寄りました。通常、アメリカでは「トレインスポッティング」に出てくるようなトイレが待ち構えています。しかし、日本ではトイレが清潔だけでなく、デザイン的にもとても調和が取れていて、考えられています。完璧です。
Still standing…as you might have read on my Twitter feed, I’ve been standing all day at work. I read in The Times that sitting all day has major negative effects on your health so I’ve been standing ever since and I’ve felt a major difference. I highly recommend it. I’m even doing it in my hotel rooms. まだ、立っています．．．Twitterで読んだかもしれませんが、僕は一日中立って仕事をします。一日中座っていると健康に害をもたらすとThe Timesで読んでから、ずっと立っていて、大きな違いを感じています。超おすすめです。ホテルの部屋でもやっています。

Growing up, being Asian and a nerd went together like peanut butter and jelly to everyone else. I remember having to hide my flute case in my backpack all through high school in fear of ridicule from my jock friends (remember American Pie?). But now thanks to the whole “nerd-chic” thing, I can now wear my coke bottle glasses in public and pass for being fashionable. Yao Ming made a huge impact into the main stream and shocked the athletic world when he entered the NBA in 2002, but he’s no nerd. 8 years later and what do we got? E-Athletes. Honestly, I don’t know if this is a step forward or backwards? I foresee an army of scraggly looking super-nerds with extremely powerful index and middle fingers and a hunch back with pale acne-riddled from sitting in the basement for too long. I don’t know? Maybe this is the future of athleticism?
Eeesh.
Really though. If this ends up anywhere close to what Tron (2) is like, sign me up!
If you catch me on Twitter, you’ll know that I’ve recently become addicted to classical music. Not really listening to it in my headphones, but more so watching it live. So after my drive from Vegas to LA, I decided to catch a show of the LA Philharmonic at The Hollywood Bowl. I’ve never been to the Bowl, but it’s an amazing venue to catch a performance. Make sure you allow time to also check out the grounds and the history of the venue. It’s really interesting.
On your way there, you might as well check out the cheeziness that all of Hollywood has to offer. Man, I was really disappointed with the Walk of Fame and the Mann Chinese Theater. Everything just looked really dilapidated and ghetto. This area needs a refurb badly. The one single highlight:
Twitterでフォローしてくれている人はご存知の通り、最近クラシカルミュージックにハマっています。ヘッドフォンで聴くというより、生で見る方です。なので、ラスベガスからロスへドライブした後、Hollywood Bowlでのロサンゼルス交響楽団のコンサートに行くことにしました。Bowlへは行ったことがなかったのですが、演奏を聴く場所には最高です。歩き回り、会場の歴史に触れる時間もとるように。とても興味深いです。
会場に行くまでに、どうせならハリーウッドのベタな観光スポットに立ち寄る事も出来ます。チャイニーズシアターとウォークオブフェームにはガッカリでした。とても荒れ果てていて、ゲトーな感じでした。マジで一新する必要があります。唯一のハイライト：

…onto the Bowl. Really, really nice. This place was made for LA and LA was made for this place. Very different than Lincoln Center in NYC to catch a symphony, but great nonetheless. ．．．そして、Bowlへ。本当に、本当に良かったです。この会場はLAのために作られ、LAはこの会場のためにあるようなもの。ニューヨークのリンカーンセンターでシンフォニーを聴くのとは違いますが、素晴らしかったです。

One thing I love about classical music is the role of the conductor. His control over the orchestra is so impressive to me. The level of skill required goes beyond anything I’ve witnessed. クラシカルミュージックの大好きな点は指揮者です。オーケストラをコントロールする力にはとても感動します。僕には計り知れないレベルのスキルを要します。

The world tour continues. I’m previewing the Staple Spring 2011 Collection to all our buyers across the world…from Paris, to London, to Berlin, to NYC, and now to Las Vegas, Nevada aka “Sin City”. If you talk to most people in the industry, they dread coming to Vegas—and for good reason. But I’ve started taking a different approach to my Vegas visits. People think because it’s “Vegas”, you have to rage out every minute. But if you treat Vegas like any other destination, it can actually be quite enjoyable and relaxing.

So glad (capsule) is doing a Vegas edition, otherwise, I would be hard pressed to go. This show makes doing business in Vegas (and in fashion) a pleasure. (capsule)がベガス版をやって本当に良かった。さもなければ、行く意味がありませんでした。このショーがあるからこそ、ベガスでビジネス（とファッション）をする価値があります。
iPad + Poker is the perfect combination. I can be super productive while relaxing at a No-Limit game. iPad + Pokerはパーフィクトなコンビ。リラックスしてノーリミットゲームをしながら、仕事が捗る。
I did my first ever drive from Vegas to LA. It was nice…very wide open and the drive allows you time to think. The traffic sucks but I imagine if there was no traffic, it would be a sweet trek in the right car…初めてベガスからロスまでをドライブしました。とても良かったです．．．すごく広くて、ドライブしながら色々な事を考える時間もあります。渋滞は最悪ですが、渋滞がなければ、快適な車を選べば、かなり楽しいドライブになると思います。

Hasbro showed off the then “Mega AT-AT” at the toy show awhile back, and now its finally here. I picked this one up off of Amazon. I’ve always wanted an AT-AT for my toy collection and its always been sitting second fiddle to other toys coming out, but then this one popped up.
It’s big. Really big. Over 2 feet tall and 2 feet wide. Other than the fact it needs some more distress, it’s amazing. For all the customizers it’s time to pick one up and start playing! Below are some custom AT-ATs from the past worth checking out!
