There’s been a ton of great press over the last few weeks. It’s all been happening while I’ve been on the road, so I haven’t been able to report on them live, which is why I’m consolidating them into this one post. So if you’re completely sick of me by the end of this, I don’t blame you. I’m sick of me, too. この数週間、たくさんのメディアに取り上げてもらいました。僕が出張中だった為、リアルタイムで紹介できなかったので、このブログアップで一揆にさせていただきます。なので、これを読み終わった頃には僕の事を読み飽きてしまったら、しょうがない。僕も自分に飽きています。
This first one is all the way from China. Dazzle Magazine has me as their coverboy for this month. I can’t read it, but I hear it’s quite good.I’m a disgrace to my people. Can’t read Chinese, can’t do calculus and can’t play piano. What good am I?!? Next up is our favorite NYC street-wear-culture-sneaker-Olivia-Munn-a-thon magazine—Marc Ecko’s Complex Mag. They did me the honor of asking for my 50 favorite sneakers of all-time. We upped the ante by limiting it to only the sneakers I personally own. So this was fun…digging through my shelves and just reminiscing on these old kicks. Any sneakerhead worth his salt will tell you that it’s not about the shoes themselves…it’s about the stories that connect with them.
The irony is that not even a week after this interview took place, our Staple x Nike SB Pigeon Dunks were entered into a tournament to decide the greatest sneaker of all time. 32 sneakers would be whiddled down to 1 via voting by you and everyone else in the world. Amazingly, the Pigeons made it into the finals, topping greats like the De La Soul’s, the Heineken’s, the Supreme’s and even the all-mighty white on white Air Force One. We finally lost in the finals to the Air Jordan 11—designed by TInker Hatfield and MJ himself. I’ll take that “L”. But the funny thing? If you check out my Complex Top 50, I ranked the Pigeon #2 and an Air Jordan (the 3s) #1. I ain’t sayin’ I’m a psychic or anything but……..

Complex Mag。光栄にも、彼らから僕にお気に入りのスニーカー、トップ50を選出するお話をいただきました。もっと限定するため、僕が実際所有しているスニーカーから厳選しました。だから、棚から掘り出して、昔のキックスの思い出を想いながら選ぶのが楽しかったです。真のスニーカーヘッドなら誰もが、その靴自体が大切ではない．．．その靴に結びついているストーリーが大切だって言うでしょう。
皮肉なことに、このインタビューの一週間後に、僕たちのStaple x Nike SB Pigeon Dunksが史上最強のスニーカーを決めるトーナメントに出場しました。32足のスニーカーが世界中の皆の投票で一番が決められました。すごい事に、PigeonsはDe La Soul’s、Heineken’s、Supreme’s、そして強敵のホワイト・オン・ホワイトのAir Force Oneを倒し、決勝戦まで進みました。決勝ではTinker HatfieldとMJ自身がデザインしたAir Jordan 11に負けてしまいました。参りました。でも、おかしな事に、僕のComplex Top 50を見てもらえれば、僕はPigeonsを#2に、そして、Air Jordans (the 3s)を#1にランクしました。予知能力があるとは言いませんが．．．僕のリストをチェックして、皆の意見を聞かせてください。結構考えて選びましたよ。
Just last week, WWD/Footwear News interviewed me about my sneakers as well, from a different perspective though. This interview came about in a funny way. I was watching this TV show called “HOARDERS”; and I tweeted a comment about how Sneakerheads are sort of like hoarders in a way. Well, Jennifer who writes for the magazine read it and thought it would make for an interesting story so she contacted me. I can’t even watch stupid reality TV shows and not have it somehow relate to work…
つい先週、WWD/Footwear Newsも僕のスニーカーについてインタビューをしてくれましたが、ちょっと違う視点からでした。このインタビューのきっかけも面白かったんです。 ある日、「HOARDERS（溜め込む人々）」というテレビ番組を見ていて、スニーカーヘッドは少しこの溜め込む人たちに似ているとtweetしました。すると、この雑誌のライターのJenniferはこれを読み、面白い記事になると思って、僕に連絡してくれました。くだらないリアリティーテレビでさえ、仕事に繋がってしまう．．．
The fine ladies over at Hearty Magazine featured me in their “Boy Meets Girl” column. This was also a fun interview. Especially when they asked me to list 10 Things People Don’t Know About jeffstaple. That was definitely a tough one! Check it out for the answers. And finally, the interview that I’m probably most proud of…is the recent feature that I did with Herman Miller’s design/inspiration website—Lifeblog. We sat down and talked about work, productivity, play and everything in between. It’s an intimate look inside some of my work habits.
