Boys never stop playing with toys. And we love working with our friends over at Medicom in Japan. Our newest collaboration has just dropped. The “Box” Be@rbrick! We do a ton of packing and shipping at Staple each day, so we drew inspiration this time from the warehouse team.
The “Box” Be@rbrick comes in two sizes, a 400% and a 100%. Each one comes in its own specially designed box with its very own mini Staple packing tape. The box itself is a collectors item as it’s rare for a Be@rbrick to get a special box of its own.
The figure itself is done in kraft “cardboard” brown with safety stickers all over it. Staple packing tape is masked up over the eyes and you can peep the cardboard details on the side and back.
It’s available at REED SPACE right now and other select Medicom accounts. Ship it!

1/18/10 marks the OH-FFICIAL launch of our newest project! I’m amped to announce the launch of The Staple Archives exclusively at Urban Outfitters. Our relationship with UO goes way back actually. I started Staple back in 1997 with hand-printed tees that I made while going to Parsons School of Design. Since then, there has always been a connection between Staple and UO. We’ve always wanted to work together, but often times, a mom and pop boutique that we were really close with had a store location near an Urban Outfitters location and hence there was a conflict of interest with too many retailers in one area.
But I always greatly respected UO as a retail leader, so each season, at all the fashion and trade shows, we would always discuss what things we could potentially do together. Fast forward a fun and ever-eventful 13 years later and now it’s 2010. Well last year, we started to talk about how cool it would be to go back into the archives of Staple and dig out some exciting designs as well as some designs that may have never seen the light of day and “reissue” them exclusively for Urban Outfitters.
It’s really a perfect win for everyone. We’re able to see long gone designs back into the marketplace. Customers who never experienced Staple the first time around now get another chance to. And most importantly, Urban Outfitters and Staple are finally officially working together!
So that’s the thinking. The result? THE STAPLE ARCHIVES. An ongoing collection of Staple items brought out from the vaults of Staple Design.
2010/1/18は僕達の最新プロジェクトが正式に発進する日です！The Staple ArchivesがUrban Outfittersで独占販売される事を発表でき、興奮しています。UOとはずいぶん古くからのお付き合いです。僕は1997年にParsons School of Designに通いながら、ハンドプリントTシャツを商品としてStapleを始めました。それ以来、UOとStapleは繋がりがありました。以前から一緒に仕事がしたいと思っていましたが、Urban Outfittersがある近くには、僕達の交流のある家族経営のセレクトショップなどがあり、同じ地域に小売店が密集してしまう利害衝突が起こってしまうことがありました。でも、僕は小売業界のリーダーとしてUOは常にリスペクトしていたので、毎シーズン、ファッションショーや展示会では何か一緒に出来ないか話し合っていました。楽しい、盛りだくさんな13年間が過ぎ、今や2010年。昨年僕達はStapleのアーカイブの中から以前のデザインを掘り起こして、まだ日の目を見ていないデザインをUrban Outfitters限定で「再発行」しようという話が持ち上がりました。
The Details:
Lets be honest. These tees are not the ACTUAL archival pieces. Otherwise, they might smell really bad. We did our best to recreate the designs in a familiar, faded look to seem as if they were stuck in the bottom of a broom closet and then washed 30 times. The cotton is super soft and immediately feels like your “favorite tee”. The prints are true to the original but have a slightly washed feeling to them. No heavy bulletproof prints. We’ve also changed up the inside labeling. It’s the label from our inventory control system with an approved stamp stating this design is slated for The Staple Archives.

正直言います。Tシャツは当時の現物ではありません。そうだとしたら、古いイヤな臭いがすると思います。僕達はクローゼットに埋もれていたのを引っ張り出した後に30回洗濯されたような、馴染んだ、色あせ感を出しながらデザインを再現しました。コットンの生地はとても柔らかく、すぐに「お気に入りのＴシャツ」になるような肌触りです。プリントはオリジナルに忠実ですが、少し洗い回しされた質感を出しています。防弾できるような分厚いプリントではありません。内側のラベルも変えました。ＴシャツのデザインはThe Staple Archivesのために用いられた事を承認するスタンプが押された在庫管理システム風のラベルが付いています。
The First Three:
The first 3 designs to roll out are COMPOSITION, WINDOWS95 and PIGEON SKETCH. COMPOSITION (’07) and WINDOWS95 (’04) are classic designs people couldn’t get enough of the first time we put them out. PIGEON SKETCH is a rendering of the original pre-graphic-icon of our (in)famous Pigeon logo. These three are available in-store as well as online. Get ‘em while you can!

一番最初に選ばれた３つのデザインはCOMPOSITION、WINDOWSS95とPIGEON SKETCHです。COMPOSITION(’07)とWINDOWSS95(’04)は発売した当初、大好評で話題もちきりのデザインでした。PIGEON SKETCHは（悪名高い）、有名なグラフィックアイコンになる前のピジョンロゴをモチーフにしました。この3型は店舗でもオンラインでも入手できます。お買い求めはお早めに！
