I so often hear people DEFEAT themselves before they’re even allowed to be defeated. I always think, “Damn, at least allow yourself the chance to get rejected and fail! Why deprive yourself of this by not even trying?”
My old tennis coach back in the day used to tell me, “Jeff, just get the ball over the net. That’s number one. We’ll work on getting it inside the lines after that. But if you can’t get it over the net, it’s already over.”

僕はよく、あきらめざる終えない状況になる前にあきらめてしまう人を見かけます。いつも思うのは、「せめて、却下されて、失敗するチャンスを自分に与えなくてはいけない！やってもいないのに、とうしてあきらめてしまうのかな？」
昔のテニスコーチは僕によくこう言いました、「ジェフ、ボールがネットを越えるようにすればいいだけ。それが一番大切。その後にラインの内側に入るように努力すればいい。でもネットを越えなければ、それで終わりだ。」
