A skier in Alaska with a helmet-cam on captures himself getting caught in an avalanche. The entire crash–burial–and–rescue is recorded. One of the scariest parts is hearing him gasping for air for over 4 minutes.

The STPL Fall 2009 cut + sew collection is now available at Reed Space and other fine retailers. As most of you know, each season, we focus on one aspect the academic life. For Fall ’09, the theme is “COMMUNITY WORKS”. The theme derived from my observation that as unemployment started going up lately, many people, of all ages, were heading back to the volunteer workforce. A silver-lining in these economic times…so I wanted to really focus on it. If you check out the entire collection, you’ll see that all the “models” are actual real-deal volunteers. We asked them a couple of questions about why they do what they do. The stories are as interesting as the clothes. Thanks to God’s Love We Deliver, Housing Works, National Multiple Sclerosis Society. And big thanks to Ana Leiva for the photos and production work.
STPL Fall 2009年カットソーコレクションがReed Spaceとその他の優良店舗で入手可能になりました。ご存知かと思いますが、毎シーズン、僕達は常に一つの事に重点を置いています。それは、人生で学ぶ事。2009年秋のテーマは「COMMUNITY WORKS (社会奉仕)」です。このテーマは、最近失業率が上がる中、年齢を問わずたくさんの人々が、再びボランティア活動に励んでいるのを頻繁に目にするようになった事から始まりました。この経済状況の中に見える明るい希望．．．だからこそ、これに重点をおきたかったのです。コレクションを全て見ると、「モデル」さんたちは、実際のボランティアであることが分かります。それぞれになぜ活動をしているか質問をしてみました。彼らのストーリーはコレクションの服と同じくらい興味深いです。God’s Love We Deliver、Housing Works、National Multiple Sclerosis Societyに感謝です。そして、写真と制作に関わってくれたAna Leivaにもありがとう。

So there are reports that some New Balance White Pigeons have been delayed in shipments and customs. Bad news cuz of the delay. But good news cuz it means you still have a chance of getting your hands on one. In fact, Reed Space is “supposed” to get one more shipment from NB (tapping our feet..twiddling our thumbs…)
This week, our friend Ricky who owns the shop Limiteditions in Barcelona will be getting his drop. And he definitely gets the award for Best Window Presentation!!

今週、バルセロナでLimiteditionsというショップを経営している僕の友人のRicky宛に配送される予定です。そして彼は確実にベストショーウィンドウプレゼンテーション賞をもらうでしょう!!
First, an entire park setting was re-created inside his window display. 最初に、彼のウィンドーディスプレーの中に丸ごと公園を再現しました。
Those aren’t display pigeons! Those are actual birds flying inside! Don’t worry, Ricky is taking good care of them with food and water. ディスプレー用のハトではありません！あれは実際の鳥が飛んでいます！でも心配無用、Rickyは水と餌でちゃんと世話をしてます。
Looks like they’re having a blast in there with their friends! ハトたちは友達と楽しんでいる様です！

It’s an arty month at Reed Space! We just celebrated the Asics 60th Anniv book launch last week and this Wednesday, I’m proud to announce another amazing book launch:
LIKE LIPSTICK TRACES: DAILY LIFE POLAROIDS FROM THIRTEEN GRAFFITI WRITERS
Like Lipstick Traces shows the everyday life of 13 graffiti writers. Consciously, and therefore in contrast with usual graffiti publications, it uses the peculiar medium of Polaroid. The idea was to send a Polaroid camera and about one hundred Polaroid photos to graffiti writers of different nationalities, with the task to shoot their everyday life, and to give them complete freedom in the choice of the motifs. It surely is this kind of freedom which makes this book so special, but also the fact that all these unpublished photos were taken especially for the book.

LIKE LIPSTICK TRACES: 13人のグラフィティーライターから毎日のポラロイド
Like Lipstick Tracesは13人のグラフィティーライターの毎日を集めたものです。通常のグラフィティーに関する出版物と対照的にする為、意図的にポラロイドという奇妙なミディアムを使っています。コンセプトは色々な国のグラフィティーライターにそれぞれポラロイドカメラと100枚の写真を送り、テーマは自由に決めてもらい、毎日の生活を撮ってもらう事でした。この本の特色はその自由さにあり、写真もこの本の為に撮られたものなのでこれまで発表されていないということです。
