Mickey Drexler, CEO of J. Crew with Charlie Rose.
“…by the way, being a name designer doesn’t mean you are profitable. At the end of the day, there’s no fun in any business unless you’re profitable and growing. That’s the bottom line.”
Thanks to Alyasha for putting me on to this.

「...それにしても、有名デザイナーだからと言って儲かるわけではない。最終的に、有益があり、成長するビジネスをしていない限り、面白くない。それが結論です。」

Drexler has done a great job with J Crew. The store on Broadway in New York is a shining example of breathing life into a lifeless brand and making it something that appeals to everyone from the guy that lives for Japanese fashion to the guy who wants a basic and affordable woven shirt. We need more leaders like Mickey Drexler in corporate America.
great post. this guy has a wonderful view on how to run a company and gives great insight into the fashion and business world.
He really has done a great job with J.Crew. The collaborations are so on point. I hope they keep it up. I wouldn’t mind it if they pushed the envelope a little more though. A collab with Woolrich Woolen Mills/Daisuke Suzuki, for example, would be incredible.
