The May 09 issue of Nylon Mens has a nice feature on sneaker culture and the 10 people that make it go round and round. They included me on the list! The list includes Hiroshi Fujiwara, Parra, Busy P, Crooked Tongues, Bodega and Sung Choi/Clae. Quite honestly speaking, it’s a little insulting to call me “The Guru” and call Hiroshi “The Tastemaker”. That word is too simple for his rep. They should have called him “The Deity”.
Funny story: Organizing this shoot was a nightmare. (Partly my fault.) Because of my work, travel and teaching schedule, the only time I could have done this shoot was after my Columbia University class…9pm on campus. On a cold ass damp night. Right before I had to go to the airport. I think Peggy did a great job.
2009年の5月号のNylon Mensはスニーカーカルチャーとそれを引っ張っている10人についての特集が組まれています。そして、僕がその１人に選ばれました！その他には、藤原ヒロシ、Parra、Busy P、Crooked Tongues、BodegaとSung Choi/Claeです。正直言うと、僕を「ザ・教祖」とヒロシを「ザ・テーストメーカー」と呼ぶのはちょっと失礼だと思いました。彼を「ザ・神」と命名すればいいと思います。面白い話：この撮影を組み込むのが悪夢のようでした。（半分は僕のせいですが。）僕の仕事と出張と講師としてのスケジュールのせいで、この撮影をする唯一の時間が僕のコロンビア大学の授業の後、夜9時のキャンパスでした。凍えるほど冷たく濡れた夜でした。しかも空港に行く直前。Peggyは凄くいい仕事をしたと思います。
congrats on the article jeff, but too bad about that cover! WTF is that? Paul Dano is cool but he looks like he just got out of dance class or something.
