Here’s an interesting post-comment regarding The Oscars in the New York Times. Most people were extremely impressed with the recent Oscars show designed by architect David Rockwell. But with all the categories they have, you would think that there isn’t one aspect of filmmaking that’s left unturned. But there is one. A major one. The credits!

Credit Where Credits Are Due: The Present
It’s hard to imagine why these and the other exceptional title sequences have never been recognized by the Oscars. I’d like to see the academy create this much-needed category. In the meantime, the NY Times have gone ahead and selected the title sequences that should have been nominated for 2008. The nominees for Best Achievement in Film Title Design:

i know your fascinated by fonts and i watched this great show on pbs that focused on fants particularly “helvetica.” the show was called independent lens and the title of the episode was helvetica. you should check it out if possible it’s interesting.
