You don’t know how good it feels that I can finally speak publicly about this project. New Balance and Staple Design have been working on this collaboration for over a year now. It was hard to keep it under wraps because I was so amped about it. But as you know, I don’t want to give out any information until everything is absolutely firmed up. There’s been much speculation in recent months but I am happy to be able to lay out the facts finally.

Here are the latest details. (As with any of these collaborations, some information is subject to change.) The global release date is August 6th, 2008. I mentioned in the Sneaker Freaker interview that there will be about 800 pairs worldwide but the actual number is now LESS. We’re talking about 650 globally. My goal was to make this release a little more accessible and try to actually get shoes on people’s feet!

Looks nice. But why always a limited release. Only benefiting the middle men and ebayers and weeding out many individuals who would actually appreciate it…
Clean with a splash, the shoes look great. Now if I can only figure out a way to be in NYC on the 6th….
if u wash the tees in hot water the pigeon dissapears, the real Worldwide collabo comes up, and instead of a pigeon a big PATATA BRAVA appears….!

I think its a pretty lame show. the simplicity of the greys and orange works well with the dunk format but on the new balance it just looks boring. Its past clean and into straight up unoriginal. The limited release is almost funny. Everyone in streetwear talks about being for the people, if it were about the people you’d release more pairs and at a cheaper price. Sneaker culture is dead.
it’s kind of funny that people would even bother to write something so blatantly demeaning to someone who’s worked pretty damn hard to make others happy. you think he spent over a year designing this shoe to wear it for himself? no, he did it for other people who would appreciate his time, effort, and skill. if you don’t like the shoe, then you don’t like the shoe. i can respect that, but please don’t be a self-righteous a-hole and post such comments that will most likely only make you feel better. i mean, you obviously respect the guy, since you’ve taken the effort to read his blog. so… please… just spread some love

to everyone: don’t hate if you can’t afford it or can’t get it. I’m sure there’s a good reason why its in limited quantities. thats why there’s no big ad saying “BUY THE PIGEON NB at stores near you!”

But isn’t it a little ridiculous that about 75% of everyone that lines up outside to get this shoe will just end up selling it online for a profit?
What I like about this sneaker is that it has all the colors of those pigeons in New York City. I wonder if anyone else noticed that. Probably not, right? Yeah, it’s a specialty, I’ve got an eye for detail…

Sick shoe. I like this colorway much better on the New Balance than on the Nike Dunk version.
I actually have the Dunks but they are beat up from skating. def need those NB.

I didn’t find out about the actual release date until it was too late. I bought my pair sz 11.5 from a guy in France for $430.00 plus $60.00 for insured international shipping. I’m still happy as hell that I got a pair in my size. Good lookin out on the great kicks! . Can’t wait to see your next design. Shout out to Monmouth County, NJ!
