2006.

I rang in the new year at my friends Marz & Sona’s (better known as S+M) new spot in Brooklyn. They have a sweet place. It makes me wonder why I continue to stay in Manhattan and pay the ridiculous rents. Anyways, it was nice small private fair. I liked the “Pre School” theme they had going with the foam visors, noisemakers, kiddie sunglasses, and that PS2 game Guitar Hero. That game is so addictive. It’s like Karaoke but with an electric guitar that has buttons on it instead of strings. Anyway, Happy New Year to everyone and enjoy the photos.

Custom design your own foam visor! It’s like Nike ID but better! You might be seeing these in Staple’s next collection. haha…(photo: Marz)

Your hosts for the evening, Marz One and Sonabon. Congrats on the new crib!

Gwen and Sakura, gettin’ high off those toxic bubble makers you played with as a kid.

Scenes from the stroke of midnight.

Jon G. had to call in an Asian mechanical engineer to roll this massive joint. Just kidding, that’s Wook. Jon gets some support from his newlywed Aiko, and then………..Rey enjoys the fruits of his labor. (Along with everyone else in Western Brooklyn.)

Sonabon shakin’ her bon.

Everyone gets on the Guitar Hero game and replays their childhood dream of being a rockstar. Sona plays to a standing room only crowd. Rey puts his soul into it. And David…made sure his visor matched his guitar. lol…

Guitar Hero is the bomb. The idea of playing with a toy guitar in a video game doesn’t sound cool at first, but once you actually get into that first song, or see other people playing it, it’s over…

and hey, it’s 1/1/06, bring on the shoes!

i can definitively say we’ve sold at least a dozen copies of guitar hero to everyone who ever played with ours. i’ve put in a request with the game developers to create a limited edition four piece band with one singer (karaoke), one drummer, one guitarist, and one bassist. since Harmonix already makes Karaoke Revolution, it shouldn’t be that much of a stretch! sell that for $500 and people will buy it. it’s awesome to see the usual suspects back east rocking the new year!
